Roland Villinger appointed new Head of Corporate and Product Strategy at ŠKODA AUTO


Mladá Boleslav, May 31, 2021 – On June 1, 2021 Roland Villinger will become head of the new Corporate and Product Strategy area at ŠKODA AUTO. The Czech car manufacturer merges the “Corporate Development and Digitization” and the “Product Strategy and Modular Toolkit”. Management directions in order to bring together the major themes of the future and take advantage of synergies. Andre Wehner, previously responsible for “Corporate Development and Digitization”, will become MAN’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) on June 1. Guido Haak, previously responsible for product strategy and modular toolkit management, is leaving the Volkswagen Group of his own accord.

Roland Villinger recently oversaw the implementation of the Volkswagen Group strategy and was previously Head of Corporate Strategy at AUDI AG for two and a half years. Villinger studied business administration and organizational psychology at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and finance at the University of Cambridge in England. He then completed his doctorate in the field of international management and mergers and acquisitions.

From 1991 to 2016, Villinger worked for management consulting firm McKinsey in Europe, Asia and the United States, since 2005 as a senior partner. He notably developed the activities in Thailand and Indochina, was responsible for McKinsey’s operational activities in the Asia / Pacific region and was regional general manager for South Korea in Seoul as well as consulting partner in Silicon Valley.

In October 2016, he joined AUDI AG as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Digital Officer. In this role, he led the manufacturer’s digitization activities and was also responsible for corporate strategy. In 2019, he was appointed Head of Steering Group Initiatives within the Volkswagen Group.

André Wehner has been responsible for business development and digitization at ŠKODA AUTO for the past five years and has been Chief Information Officer at the Czech automaker for more than three years previously. Under his leadership, the company made significant advancements in the areas of digitization, mobility services, connectivity and innovation management. Among other things, he was responsible for the creation of ŠKODA AUTO DigiLab in Prague, which develops mobility solutions for the brand as a digital hub. In the meantime, it has grown into a global network with locations in Prague, Tel Aviv, Beijing and Pune. Wehner will become Chief Information Officer at MAN on June 1.

Guido Haak has been responsible for product strategy and management of ŠKODA AUTO’s modular toolbox for five and a half years. In its day, the Czech automaker launched its SUV campaign with the KODIAQ. These were followed by two other SUV models, the KAROQ and the KAMIQ, which made a significant contribution to the growth of ŠKODA. In the spring, the brand also launched ENYAQ iV, the manufacturer’s first all-electric SUV. Guido Haak is leaving the Volkswagen group of his own accord.
