Product Development Assistant Job at Fred Perry

Work collaboratively with and support a dynamic cross-company team covering all aspects of product development, from design concept to global launch

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a cross-functional internal team. The position therefore requires a team spirit with a practical approach; someone who is able to manage their time well in order to adhere to the Business Critical Path


  • Support the product team to develop styles as directed by the business plan
  • Maintain and update the product critical path from prototype sample to vendor/Red Seal samples, ensuring key deadlines are met
  • Work within the product team to compile and maintain packages (product specification packs) throughout the development process
  • Manage internal system (AS400/BOS), issue and maintain style numbers, color codes, product descriptions and analysis codes
  • Assist in the development and sourcing of seasonal fabrics, yarns and trims
  • Communicate effectively with the Design, Quality, Planning and Marketing teams
  • Manage and organize samples to and from suppliers
  • Perform comparative analysis of in-store and online purchases to support product R&D and price signing
  • Ensure correct product images and information for quarterly sales brochure
  • Travel to trade shows, fabric fairs and suppliers in the UK if required
  • Set up and support quarterly global sales exhibitions

Develop seasonal EMS if necessary


  • Graduate with a relevant degree and/or up to 1 years of experience in a similar role
  • Be comfortable multi-tasking and managing a varied workload over multiple quarters
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about the product with a willingness to learn
  • An integral part of the team who is able to work collaboratively with design and quality throughout the end-to-end process


  • Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft systems
  • Know the fabrics, yarns and materials


We actively encourage our teams to have a good work/life balance and so we are happy to offer flexible shifts at Fred Perry headquarters. Our main working hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., so employees can choose to start and finish early or start and finish late. (i.e. working 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., etc.). We also have a 30 minute early arrival on Friday.

As we continue to work more flexibly, the head office acts as a brand hub, where we can all connect and collaborate with each other. This role is a mix of office (London) and remote work. We expect the employee to come into the office regularly for face-to-face meetings and to work alongside their team on collaborative projects.
