A South Wales-based product design, value engineering and systems development company has been acquired in a seven-figure management buyout. The deal was backed by the GS Verde Group.

GX Group ensures projects progress from concept to production, with its in-house team of engineers developing innovations such as an artificial stomach and the use of bioluminescent technology to monitor water contamination.

The Usk-headquartered group consists of three companies: Grid Xitek, a product design and technology company; GX Environmental, which has developed its own wastewater and clean water management system; and GX Systems which integrates functional systems into existing structures.

Former directors remain with the company in various roles, with former chief executive Mark Helmich assuming the role of non-executive chairman.

Mark Helmich said, “A key element of GX’s success is the breadth and experience of our engineering teams, who are committed to turning brilliant ideas into business results for all of our customers.

“We are delighted to see the business continue under the leadership of the new management team, who themselves have over 100 years of combined experience with the GX Group, and whose innovative thinking and technical excellence will propel GX to even greater heights.”

GX has demonstrated impressive business growth, with inquiries increasing by more than half since 2019, and has embarked on a recruitment campaign to meet demand.

Commenting on their new role as directors of the company, spokeswoman Claire Ricketts said: “When the directors announced their plans, we were unanimous that we wanted to take responsibility for leading the group and making grow the business.

“Having a new leadership team that includes people from all three different business divisions means we can continue to drive the business forward, meeting the diverse needs of our customers and turning their brilliant ideas into business reality.”

GS Verde Group negotiation experts advised throughout the transaction.
