Identifying true company-wide pain points allows us to be strategic about opportunities and adds value to our pipeline.

We will engage in opportunities whether presented internally or externally, but we will be selective and strategic in the opportunities we pursue.

Solution Pipeline Phases:

  • Analysis: The projects will undergo various analyzes to understand the scope, needs and competition in the market.
  • Development: The projects are ready for development.; during this phase, the project scope is created, workflows are established, a schedule is established, and team members are assigned roles. As needed, pilot processes are used to better understand fit at MUSC Health.
  • Delivery: The projects have been developed and are ready to be deployed. Solutions will track project status to ensure the project is on track and KPIs are being met.
  • Transition: Projects have been successfully incubated by the Solutions team and are ready to transition from Solutions to a new operational owner.
  • Surveillance: Projects have demonstrated operational effectiveness or are not actively engaged by the Solutions team. The Solutions team will plan a regular cadence to ensure key initiatives and KPIs are achieved.

Consultative Committee

The purpose of the advisory board is to act as a sounding board for the MUSC Solutions team – responsible for helping identify, review, prioritize and ultimately execute selected projects; leverage internal MUSC knowledge and external relationships to help guide solutions through and beyond the work of the team.

The Advisory Board will provide unsolicited advice and industry knowledge gained through years of experience in their respective fields. The committee will provide an unbiased perspective to the MUSC Health Solutions team to assess the sustainability, cost-effectiveness and potential success of a solution or opportunity. The committee will also present opportunities that MUSC Health Solutions may pursue, if any.

The committee can be composed of representatives from various sectors: finance, agriculture, economics, health, retail, IT and information exchange, hospitality, distribution, data science, telecommunications, digital health, biotechnology, construction, public relations, etc

Internal collaborations

Foundation for Research and Development (FRD)

How we partner: Many projects we work on include IP disclosure. FRD supports our efforts to ensure that the creators of our solutions, whether in terms of technology, workflow or know-how, are recognized and rewarded for their work.

External Affairs Office

How we partner: Partnerships are what allow MUSC to extend its reach to patients and promote growth. Solutions often provide opportunities for the organization that result in mutually beneficial partnerships, which we work with External Affairs to facilitate and help establish.

Innovation Office

How we partner: We also work alongside Innovation to identify weak points in the organization and find solutions to them. Whether an idea is fully developed or early in its lifecycle, innovation will engage us whenever our expertise can help accelerate the development and delivery of a solution.

Project management office

How we partner: Many solutions required a lot of ongoing project management (PM) support, which the PM department provides to us. This can be a pilot project or the implementation of a new platform for use across the organization. The PM office helps move solutions through deployment and ensure the right groups are engaged for implementation.

Zucker Institute for Applied Neuroscience (ZIAN)

How we partner: ZIAN will bring opportunities to MUSC Health Solutions that require additional support to develop a business case, connect researchers to internal resources, or if they believe there may be an investment opportunity for Solutions. They help to fuel the portfolio.

Biomedical Informatics Center (BMIC)

How we partner: When new technologies require testing in a clinical environment, we often turn to BMIC to support building infrastructure in sandbox research environments. This group is equipped with strong technicians and developers who support the pilots of the MUSC health solution.

Finance

How we partner: Solutions has a close relationship with the health system and opens up possibilities for savings, revenue generation or investments. Finance department engagement is crucial for extracting relevant data, understanding financial impacts and allocating resources for development.

General Counsel’s Office

How we partner: All solutions require some level of commitment from the General Counsel. The legal team provides expert knowledge in forming partnerships, reviewing and recommending relevant legal documentation, and guiding the Solutions department on how to manage risk.

Marketing and Branding

How we partner: Spin-offs and new services require a lot of support from the marketing department, whether it’s creating campaigns or branding. They are highly trained, have access to great marketing tools and have a network of resources to ensure that we communicate and send messages to the right audience in the most effective, efficient and simple way. !

telehealth office

How we partner: Many solutions produced by MUSC Health Solutions require input, feedback, or support from the Office of Telehealth. They are always ready to explore new ideas and opportunities to provide and co-develop innovative services to patients and customers.
