PIMCO appoints Product Strategy Group Leader

PIMCO named Kimberly Stafford, chief executive, as global head of a newly formed product strategy group, among other staff moves, a press release said Wednesday.

Ms. Stafford’s role is also new and “combines oversight of product teams in traditional and private strategies,” PIMCO spokeswoman Agnes Crane said in an email.

Ms. Stafford is currently responsible for Asia Pacific for PIMCO and is based in Hong Kong. She will return to PIMCO’s headquarters in Newport Beach, Calif., mid-year to assume her new role.

General manager Alec Kerman will replace Ms. Stafford as head of the Asia-Pacific region. No date has been set for the move to Hong Kong, Ms Crane said.

Mr. Kersman is now Head of Strategic Accounts in PIMCO’s Global Wealth Management Division in the United States.

Ms. Stafford and Mr. Kersman report to Emmanuel Roman, Managing Director and CEO of PIMCO.

The functions of Mr. Kersman will be carried out by managing directors David Fisher and Eric Sutherland, co-heads of PIMCO’s Global Wealth Management Strategic Accounts US unit, Ms. Crane said.

Mr. Fisher’s position as co-head of strategic accounts is new. He was responsible for traditional product strategies, a position Ms Stafford will take over from him in her new position, Ms Crane confirmed.

Mr. Fisher will relocate to PIMCO’s New York office from Newport Beach as part of his new job, the statement said.

Mr. Fisher and Mr. Sutherland, Managing Director and President of PIMCO Investments, report to Gregory Room, Managing Director and Head of PIMCO’s US Global Wealth Management Section.

PIMCO was managing $2.2 trillion as of December 31.
