This position will be open for applications on October 3, 2022

If you are nearing the end of a design degree and considering your career, the product design placement here at the Nestlé Product Technology Center might be what you are looking for. Over 12 months, it will give you a taste of life in product design at the world’s largest food and beverage manufacturer so you can experience exactly what kind of role you could play in the future.

Our placement will develop your individual talent. There is no one-size-fits-all approach at Nestlé precisely because we want so many different perspectives to contribute to what we do. This is why we encourage people from all walks of life to apply to us and we will always encourage you to be yourself.

Come join us in York where mentorship from our experts will sharpen your ambitions and give you the skills you need to achieve them.

What is the NPTC Product Design Internship?

You will join our front-end innovation team, where you will be treated like any other team member and the fresh perspective you bring will be valued and welcomed. Collaborating with confectioners and colleagues on consumer insights and packaging insights, you’ll work on live projects, bring ideas to life through rapid prototyping, and support product teams with their latest work.

You will practice your academic work here. This will highlight how the skills you have learned so far could have a real impact on a global business. And, if you don’t already know how things like graphic design, laser cutting, packaging mockups, and 3D printing work in practice, you will know by the end of the course.

Who is eligible for the NPTC Product Design Internship?

Ideally, you will be in the penultimate year of a design degree and looking to gain practical experience under your belt before starting your final year. You will have a good understanding of CAD software (which could be SolidWorkd, Fusion or other) and you will need to be up to date with Photoshop and Illustrator. It is equally important that you take this opportunity to learn from real industry experts with both hands. We want to meet people who have set career goals and are moving towards them.

What will I get out of a Nestlé investment?

You’ll come away with substantial experience working with some of the world’s best-known brands like KitKat, Smarties and Aero. You will also benefit not only from the mentorship of our experts, but also from the feedback of stakeholders on the projects you carry out. Our placement is focused on developing your talent and will take you far towards realizing your potential as a professional. It will also give you a real advantage when it comes to applying to our graduate program after graduation (as many of our internship students do).

You’ll also appreciate the feel-good factor that comes with creating shared value (CSV) with the work you do. This is the goal of our “Force for Good” initiative, which is to align our business objectives with social responsibilities such as environmental protection and healthier food. As part of our Product Design team, you will make a real contribution to this by literally being in the driver’s seat to make a better and more sustainable Nestlé a reality. In a company the size of ours, it can make a real positive difference in the rest of the world.

We understand that starting a new role can be an expensive time – to help you, we offer relocation assistance if your role requires a move away from home. We know the support needed is as individual as you are – so please get in touch and let us know how we can make this journey work together.
