About the Opportunity
A key aspect of this role is to take on teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Although the emphasis is on teaching within the realm of product design, you will also contribute to core year studies and at times teach in broader interdisciplinary areas of design practice and theory. The appointee will also participate in external engagement activities related to student recruitment and building the public profile of the College.
In addition, the successful candidate will pursue an independent and collaborative research program. Through their research activities, they will make a significant contribution to the development of the research profile of the QCA and Griffith University. Collaborating with other Griffith researchers and other universities nationally and internationally, and engaging with a range of industry partners, will be an important dimension of the role.
This is a permanent full-time position based in South Bank (Brisbane) or the Gold Coast and it is expected that the successful candidate will be available to travel to campus in person as a normal requirement of the position. The successful candidate may be required to teach at South Bank (Brisbane) and Gold Coast campuses. In addition, you may be required to work on a temporary or indefinite basis in any premises which the University currently owns or may subsequently acquire or in any premises where it may from time to time provide services.
Candidates will be very committed to teaching excellence. To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate strong capabilities in service design, co-design, product sketching, concept visualization, interface design, and ethnography. You will have evidence of a passion for practicing sustainable design from an ethical perspective and a service/system approach to ensuring that students critically assess the impact of their design decisions. You will have a clear methodological approach to educating students about the design process and understand social innovation strategies for solving complex design problems.
Base salary for the lecturer: $98,174 – $116,584 per year. Salary package including 17% employer pension contribution: $114,863 – $136,404 per year.
Base salary for lecturer: $120,263 – $138,674 per year. Salary package including 17% employer pension contribution: $140,708 – $162,248 per year.
