Hertz announced in a statement that Ned Ryan will join the company as Director of Product Development, effective May 9. Ryan will oversee efforts to deliver connected products and technologies to enhance the customer experience as Hertz assumes an expanded role in the modern mobility ecosystem.
“Our ambition to lead as a mobility company is driven by our commitment to investing in technology and innovation, and Ned is the ideal leader to advance our digital ambitions for Hertz’s next chapter,” said the CEO. of Hertz, Stephen Scherr, in the release. “Ned has a reputation for innovation, having been founder and CEO of several startups, including two successful companies in the mobility industry and most recently at Ford. Ned will work closely with Tim Langley-Hawthorne, our Chief information, and a growing team of engineers to develop world-class technology solutions that position Hertz as a key player in the travel and automotive industry.”
In 2013, Ryan launched Breeze, the first flexible ridesharing financing platform, which was purchased by Ford in 2016. He also founded Canvas, a vehicle subscription service which was purchased by Fair.com in late 2019. Ryan most recently served in a leadership position at Ford where he worked on new digitally connected mobility ventures.
