HEL Group strengthens its management team to focus on developing new products and improving customer support


HEL Group (HEL), a global developer and manufacturer of innovative laboratory tools for process optimization, safety and scaling, today announced three key appointments to the leadership team of the society. Alan Lockley and Edward Quinn join HEL as Director of Global Services and Director of Product Development respectively, while Mark Appleton takes on the new position of Director of Research. The new appointments will drive business growth and value creation, accelerating an impactful new product pipeline and enhanced customer experience focused on after-sales support

Alan Lockley joins HEL from Anatune Ltd where he was Managing Director and during his 14 year tenure held management and operational roles including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Services Officer. He has a proven track record of delivering efficient service processes and driving operational and business performance. Alan holds a BSc in Biochemistry, BSc in Business and Management, PGDip in Toxicology, MSc in Toxicology and an MBA in Business Administration.

Ed Quinn (PhD) is an experienced scientific and technical product development leader with over 12 years of management experience. Prior to joining HEL, Ed was R&D Manager, Lab Products for Techcomp Europe LTD, overseeing R&D activities across three business units. Previously, he held the positions of Director of Research and Engineering Center Techcomp, Project Manager at AMRI Glasgow Ltd and Product Specialist and Product Development at Avacta Group Plc. Ed holds an MSc in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry and a PhD in Analytical Spectroscopy, both from the University of Strathclyde.

Mark Appleton (PhD) has over 30 years of experience at HEL, having joined the company as Head of Development and progressing to his most recent role as Director of Product Development, leading the design and development of the company’s products and services. With his in-depth knowledge of HEL’s key markets, customers and core technologies, Mark will lead the innovation and product concept pipeline, which in turn will fuel the new product development and launch process. Mark’s extensive experience at HEL will also help Alan and the service team provide enhanced customer service. After completing his studies in the natural sciences at the University of Cambridge, Mark obtained a doctorate in information technology from Imperial College London.
