CWT to invest $100 million in technology, innovation and product development


BUSINESS travel management platform, CWTunveiled plans for its $100 million investment in the myCWT travel management platform and innovative product offering.

CWT said investment plans for 2022 “are built around the themes of people, platforms and purpose,” optimizing its digital-first proposition and providing integrated solutions for businesses and their on-the-go employees to live seamless experiences in an evolving travel landscape.

The first tranche of investment allocated to new capacities that will come to market over the next six months is as follows:

  • Responsible travel initiatives helping travelers and travel managers achieve more targeted travel and travel programs – in response to 67% of CWT’s global clients saying their company’s sustainability goals are more important since the pandemic.
  • Platform connectivity enhancements to ensure a seamless and productive digital experience for travel managers and their travelers – reflecting the increased role technology is playing in increasing traveler confidence when resuming travel.
  • Broader content to further expand the range of travel choices and travel options – ensuring greater flexibility to adapt to changing travel program needs.

Last December, CWT announced several new features to its myCWT platform for customers worldwide, which includes in-flight seat selection, hotel office location lookup, and enhanced customer support in the event of travel disruption. Building on these initiatives, the company’s new investment plan for Q1 2022 includes the implementation of carbon footprint indicators. “Going forward, CWT has an ambitious schedule and cadence of new capabilities, scheduled to be delivered throughout the year,” he added.

John Pelant, executive vice president and chief technology officer, said the new investment plans give the company “the opportunity to accelerate platform development and innovation, while continuing to to provide the most advanced digital products and experience available in business travel today.”
