BA (Hons) Furniture and Product Design at NTU focuses on creating innovative items for the home and contract markets, from furniture, decor products, lighting and housewares to interior products and goods. of consumption.
Design by make is a key theme of the course. Your project work will vary from commercial to more conceptual, taking into account the historical and social contexts in which the projects are located, as well as contemporary trends in practice.
Our creative studio environment will help you develop your own style, vision and philosophy. You will develop a hands-on empirical approach through drawing, model building, CAD, testing and prototyping.
We do not have a “house” design style at NTU; rather, we will present the different methodologies to you and help you create a toolbox of approaches.
From introductory activities to live projects and industrial briefs, you will experience materials, manufacturing techniques and processes in our prototyping workshops, CAD suites, 3D printing rooms and laboratories for wood, metal and concrete.
A flexible and intuitive designer is a great designer: our goal is to instill that kind of versatility in you and ensure that you graduate knowing which approach to use, when and where.
